AEP Texas employees helped students at Vernon ISD with their annual egg drop science experiments. Each student was given a raw egg and tasked to create a protective apparatus that would keep the egg safe after being dropped at various heights. Vernon employees used a bucket truck to lift each student’s project to the skies before dropping each one from 30, 40, and 50 ft. in the air.
To protect their eggs, students used foam, tape, bubble wrap, and homemade parachutes among other household items.
“Most of the projects were interesting, to say the least,” said Line Crew Leader, Dustin Turvaville. “I would have to say out of the years we have been doing this event for the kids, a jar of peanut butter with some paper towels taped to the outside would stand out the most to me. Surprisingly enough, it survived until the 50 ft. drop.”
