2023 Hurricane Season Begins June 1, AEP Texas Remains Ready
Customers should visit AEPTexas.com for hurricane safety tips

 

CORPUS CHRISTI (June 1, 2023) – June 1 marks the beginning of hurricane season, which continues through November 30. Now is the time to begin planning for the possibility of a major storm.  

“AEP Texas prepares for hurricane season throughout the year by participating in training exercises, drills and meetings. We know the urgency of restoring power as quickly and as safely possible,” said Communications Director Omar Lopez. “From our crews to our call center agents, we all make sure that our personal plans are in place for each hurricane season, and we encourage our customers to do the same.” 

By visiting the AEP Texas website, customers can:

  • Watch a video about building a personal emergency kit;
  • Read what to do before, during, and after a storm;
  • Learn how to report downed power lines along with the importance of staying at least 10 feet away; and
  • Print a hurricane safety poster.

In addition, customers can do the following for free:

  • Open a free account at AEPTexas.com.
  • Register for outage alerts delivered to a mobile device.
  • View the Outage Map to learn the cause of an outage and an estimated time of restoration, if available.
  • Follow AEP Texas on social media for the most current information about storms and outages
  • Download the AEP Texas app to report an outage
