Friends, family, and colleagues filled the Abilene Training Facility as 14 lineworker apprentices received their certificates for completing the Journeyman Apprentice Training Program at AEP Texas. To receive their certificates, apprentices had to complete 17 courses as well as 8,000 hours of on-the-job training.
After receiving his certificate, Alex Vargas said having his family’s support was a key element for his success.
“It’s just exciting. You know, it’s been a lot of hard work and a lot of time for both of us,” said Vargas. “Having them support me so I can put in all the hours to get to this point means a lot.”
