AEP Texas continues to prepare for severe weather as Tropical Storm Francine moves through the Gulf of Mexico. The middle Texas Gulf Coast remains in a tropical storm watch.
Our team is closely monitoring the storm’s path and is fully prepared to respond to any potential outages caused by the severe weather.
On Tuesday, crews from AEP service territories continued arriving at the AEP Texas gateway receiving center in Robstown. All crews will remain positioned in the Corpus Christi area until Wednesday.
Customers are encouraged to remain prepared for potential severe weather and power outages. Gather an emergency outage kit that includes:
- Flashlights and batteries
- Battery-powered or hand-crank radios
- Non-perishable food items, such as canned food and drinking water
Customers should also follow these safety guidelines:
- Treat any downed power line as energized and dangerous.
- Keep children and pets indoors during and after the storm.
- Stay at least 10 feet away from any power line to avoid injury.
- Customers who rely on life support systems or other medical equipment that requires electricity are reminded to have a backup or evacuation plan.
- Use a portable generator safely. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions.
