AEP Texas proudly celebrates National Engineer’s Week February 19-25, a recognition founded by the National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE) in 1951.
At AEP Texas, engineers are at the heart of our business - designing, building, and maintaining a reliable grid across our service territory.
AEP Texas Director of Distribution Engineering Charles Brower said that engineers at AEP Texas, and the work they perform for the company, are often the first step towards delivering safe, reliable electric service to customers across the AEP Texas service territory.
“While there are different types of engineers that work for AEP Texas, an engineer is first a problem solver,” Brower said. “At AEP Texas, there are a lot of key roles for engineers.”
AEP Texas employs three types of engineers including electrical, mechanical, and agricultural engineers.
Engineers at AEP Texas design additions to the distribution or transmission system, analyze data to propose new substations or solutions to a specific reliability concern, or meet with customers to determine what is needed to provide service at a location.
“The electrical distribution systems across the nation are undergoing a transformation and engineers are needed to ensure this transition results in a system that delivers electricity to the customer safely and reliably,” Brower said.
AEP Texas celebrates its engineers this week and always for the valuable job that they do across the service territory.
“National Engineers Week shows that there is an appreciation for the knowledge and skills that an engineer brings to the job and community,” Brower said.
