Electric Transmission Texas (ETT) contributes $70,000 to fire departments near its assets in south Texas

August 11, 2022

EDINBURG, TX – August 11, 2022 – Electric Transmission Texas (LLC) has announced contributions totaling $70,000 to fire departments located near existing or planned power lines and other assets in south Texas.  The announcement was made during ceremonies held  Wednesday at the Edinburg Fire Department station.

ETT President Kip Fox emphasized that the 26 fire departments receiving the contributions likely will serve as first responders during emergency situations that could impact the ETT’s power lines and facilities.   The contributions range between $2,000 and $5,000 depending on proximity to ETT assets.

“Many of the recipients are volunteer fire departments,” Fox said. “It’s our hope that these contributions will ensure that these 26 fire departments will be better equipped to address any emergencies they encounter.”

Representatives from ETT and AEP Texas were present for the ceremonies, which also were attended by representatives from many of the fire departments receiving a contribution.

ETT is a joint venture between subsidiaries of American Electric Power (AEP and Berkshire Hathaway Energy Company (BHE).  ETT currently is adding a second 345-kV circuit to an existing 345-kV transmission line in AEP Texas service territory in the Rio Grande Valley.  ETT also is building additional facilities and power lines that will join that new 345-kV circuit.
