To celebrate Arbor Day, AEP Texas Utility Forester Jesse Alvear spent an afternoon with a group of fifth graders at Olmito Elementary School, planting an oak tree on their school campus. This event provided AEP Texas with a great opportunity to educate future generations about the environment and help create lasting memories for students who are preparing to transition to middle school.
As part of a long-standing tradition in Olmito, students will return after their high school graduation to gather around the tree they planted in fifth grade. AEP Texas's Forestry Department is proud to be a part of this small community's tradition and looks forward to participating in annual Arbor Day celebrations throughout the Rio Grande Valley District for many years to come.
