Uvalde employees won the Best Station Award at Knippa ISD’s career fair where students of all ages learned how electricity is transmitted from substations to their homes, the importance of staying safe near power lines and electrical equipment, as well as how drones are used to help restore services following an outage.
Uvalde employees have proudly participated in Knippa ISD’s career fair since it was created four years ago. This is the second consecutive year AEP Texas won the Best Station Award at the career fair. Customer Services Account Representative Hazel Flores said what sets AEP apart from other booths is the ability to engage with students of all ages.
“Our team adapts our communication style and demonstrations to each age group which is key in keeping students interested and learning,” she said. “We have enthused presenters dedicated to their job and then showcasing one of our newer technologies like the drones made AEP’s booth stand out even more this year.”
