The photo used as the artwork on the van was taken by AEP Texas Communications Representative Adrianna Garcia during a photoshoot with the Corpus Christi Midtown crew behind a warehouse.
AEP Texas President & COO Judith Talavera explores the van, designed to showcase technology and community engagement tools. The van features workstations, drone demonstrations, and Starlink connectivity to support events across the state.
AEP Texas is hitting the road with an innovation van designed to showcase the company's advanced technology and community outreach efforts. The custom-wrapped van was developed under the leadership of AEP Texas's Continuous Improvement Department with the purpose of educating the community on the company's new technology.
The van is equipped with drone technology, interactive displays, and a high-speed connectivity system. The van was recently introduced full into the community at the STEM event at the Children's Museum in Laredo, where students and families witnessed a drone demonstration, and at the Run for a Cause event in Brownsville.
"Our goal is to engage with communities we serve, fostering connections and promoting our commitment to innovation and community support," Continuous Improvement Manager Patrick Rackley said.
The project was made possible through collaboration across several AEP Texas teams. Rackley credits Vice President of Customer Experience Alex Ramirez, and company leadership for their support in enhancing Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) initiatives and storm response capabilities. Inside the van, visitors can explore workstations for up to seven employees, an outdoor viewing area, and Starlink internet access that ensures high-speed connectivity even in remote locations. The van also includes a three-hour battery back-up system to maintain uninterrupted operations during events.
