AEP Texas crews continue to restore power to customers affected by Tropical Storm Harold and monitor storm’s movement through Laredo to west Texas

August 22, 2023

One Voice  Update #3 – Tropical Storm Harold
Tuesday, 8/22/2023 – 7 p.m.

AEP Texas continues to monitor Tropical Storm Harold as it moves through the Laredo District and the southern part of the San Angelo District in west Texas.

Tuesday afternoon, crews began restoring service to customers who lost power earlier in the day due to heavy rains and winds associated with the storm’s landfall. By 7 p.m., the number of customers without power had been reduced to approximately 11,000 as compared to the approximately 22,000 peak number of outages at 2 p.m.

Most of the outages are concentrated in Corpus Christi with approximately 9,000 customers out of power, while 1,900 remain without power throughout the Laredo District.

Additional AEP Texas crews from around the service territory, as well as other mutual assistance resources, are involved in the restoration effort in affected areas.

Please remember to consider any downed power lines energized and stay at least ten feet away from them. Also, please keep children and pets inside as much as possible.

AEP Texas will issue updates as more information becomes available. Customers can sign up for outage alerts at AEPTexas.com to receive updates on outages. Also, follow us on social media.

One Voice #3 – Tormenta tropical Harold

Martes, 8/22/2023 – 7 p.m.
