The American Electric Power (AEP) Foundation has awarded $144,500 in grants to non-profit organizations across the AEP Texas service territory to help aid response efforts associated with COVID-19.
“American Electric Power, parent company of AEP Texas, created the AEP Foundation in 2005 to continue the tradition of corporate philanthropy of AEP and its regional utilities and to support and play an active, positive role in the communities where AEP employees live and work,” Judith E. Talavera, AEP Texas president and chief operating officer, said. “During times like these when our communities are in need of additional help, we are especially proud to be able to help others as they may address additional challenges meeting basic needs, such as food and shelter. We are grateful that these organizations can effectively allocate these funds.”

A $50,000 grant to The United Way of the Coastal Bend Response and Recovery fund to help non-profits across a 12-county area. Metro Ministries of Corpus Christi will receive $10,000 and The Purple Door will receive $5,000 as part of the grant.
