AEP Texas donated extra meals from its Tropical Storm Bertha response staging area to the Calhoun County YMCA to support the Port Lavaca community and help reduce food waste.
The donation came during the YMCA’s busiest time of year, when many children attend while school is out. Tina Padron, the YMCA’s childcare director, said the meals will help the organization provide lunch for both children and staff.
Arnold Garza, meter services supervisor, said the donation reflects AEP Texas’ commitment to the communities it serves.
